My favorite Spas in Germany

It’s been a few weeks since my last blog post about CULTURE DIFFERENCES & LE SPA FINLANDAIS. Reason was a visit to Germany to see my family and friends, combined with the opportunity to spent some time in my favorite day spa’s around my hometown.

So, whenever it takes you to Düsseldorf, Essen or Cologne I would recommend to give one of these locations a try (and even, if it is just for a couple hours).

Allwetterbad Lintorf (Ratingen / Düsseldorf - www.ratinger-baeder.de)

WONDERFUL AWARDED SAUNA FACILITY

Just a few miles from Düsseldorf you will find this Asian style day spa with five different kind of saunas, small outdoor pool and lounge areas. The establishment is very clean and offers a relaxing atmosphere. Staff is very helpful, friendly and makes your visit and extraordinary experience.
In 2009 the sauna was honored with the highest award from the German Sauna Association (Deutscher Sauna-Bund).

Grugaparktherme (Essen - www.grugaparktherme.de)

ASIAN STYLE SAUNA

The Grugaparktherme with its sauna facility in my hometown is also worth a visit. Beside an observation tower, which is illuminated green  in the evening (giving a scenic view while lying in the pool), this day spa is located in the middle of Essen, in the nice Grugapark. A warm sole bath and an Asian ambience style facility with Japan house and Himalaya salt-sauna are the highlights in this location, which was opened in 2006.

Monte Mare Bedburg (Bedburg / Cologne - www.monte-mare.de)

A NEW WELLNESS RESORT

The newest sauna resort from the chain MonteMare opened in 2010 and is located about 25 miles from Cologne.  This facility is huge and has hundreds of lounge chairs on different levels and in summer also in the outdoor area. You will find 7 indoor and 3 outdoor saunas with different styles and temperatures, a well-sized warm outdoor pool and a  great restaurant, which offers excellent food for a perfect day.

I have friends and family, who do go regulary once a week or so. But I also know people who do not like sauna at all.

I every time spent my half an hour to read this webpage’s posts all the time along with a cup of coffee.
